ST. LOUIS NEWS Hello to all from the “Show Me State, Missouri and the Gate Way City, St. Louis”. The St. Louis Chapter hopes everyone enjoyed their summer. Now our summer has ended, the leaves are turning brown, and the nights are bringing our holidays closer. What a wonderful time of the year. Our club members have had a wonderful summer take a look!! Mattie Cavitt volunteered this summer at her church Christ Our Redeemer A.E.M. Church helping to serve the children in the community breakfast thru the Breakfast program. She also assists with the Pantry Program in the church at feeds over 60 people every week. She also traveled to Omaha, NE to visit with her daughter Portia and Portia’s new Godson. Bria Cavitt, Mattie’s granddaughter, graduated from Hazelwood Central this past June. Bria will be attending St. Louis University College this fall and major in Accounting. Merle T. Vault, Mattie’s brother, is recuperating from heart surgery. Mildred Hopson-Gage and husband Alfred Gage enjoyed traveling first to Chicago, Ill on September 22, 2012 for a family reunion. Getting together with family is always a good time. The next stop was to Detroit, MI. This is where they visited with Mildred and Alfred’s niece and goddaughter for three days. Next they traveled to Canada to visit Niagara Falls. To see the water falls was a wonderful site to behold. Also, to be able to feel the mist from the water and see the water fall from the top with such a great force was awesome. This is a site that will never be forgotten. Please continue to keep our members in your prayers! Jewel Robinson is convalescing at home from a stroke and Lee Etta Wiley Hoskins is continuing to do well also. Members, this was a BIG election year for a US President. We hope everyone did their civil duty and voted this past November 2012. Reporter Crystal Granger

GOLDEN REUNION CELEBRATED BY MANN CLASS OF '62 Many members of the fantastic Mann Class of '62, along with their spouses, relatives and friends, came from Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin to participate in the 50th reunion of the class in Little Rock, from Thursday, May 24 - Sunday, May 28, 2012. The theme was Horace Mann Class of '62 Golden Bearcats Rock! Festivities for this joyous golden celebration began with a meet 'n greet reception on Thursday at the LaQuinta in downtown Little Rock, followed by a Friday morning bus tour of the city and an evening banquet/dinner cruise aboard the Arkansas Queen Riverboat. On Saturday, there was an outing at Kensington Park, with a 60's sock-hop at Mann that night, to which other classes were invited. At the Sunday Worship/Memorial Service at Cross Street Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) , a reunion choir shared in the singing of spiritually-uplifting music with the Cross Street Choir. Rev. Grady Jones of California preached a powerful message at the Worship Service, and Rev. Dr. Travis Robinson prayed a dynamic prayer during the Memorial Service. The wrap-up was held at the lovely home of a classmate in the Woodlands Edge area of Little Rock on Sunday evening. To say that delicious food, good music, dancing, and wonderful memories were shared with tears, laughs, smiles and hugs, is an understatement. The class is especially proud of its 232 page 50-Year Memory Book. Officers of the Class of '62 appreciate everybody's support and cooperation in making this a successful golden reunion celebration, and classmates look forward to the ND/HMAA Reunion in Las Vegas, NV, in July of 2013.
